Our Story

                We are a small Pot bellied pig sanctuary located in Atkinson, NC started by husband and wife team Shane and Nicole Talley in February of 2020. Nicole’s love of pigs started when she was gifted a pig cookie jar. The first pig that she rescued was named Bacon and she fell in love with pigs even more. After Bacon started having some behavior problems, they decided to get her a friend and Biscuit came into the picture. To this day, they are the best of friends.

                After getting laid off during Covid, our power couple made the choice to officially start the process of filing out the paperwork to get their 501(c)3 paper work and become Happy and Sunshine Pig Sanctuary. As of February 2020, we have done 5 adoptions and currently have 66 pigs at the sanctuary.
